I really enjoy your thoughtful take on Scripture, so I have a question for you from your sermon on this passage. Do you think that taking part in the grace of giving has anything to do with the recipient of the grace/offering? It seems that if grace is unmerited favor that it has to be shown to someone. Thoughts?

I do think that receiving a grace gift from another is in deed part of the grace of giving. That is how God uses us to dispense His grace to another. So in the grace of giving, I not only receive grace from God and experience that grace myself as I give, but the gift continues to be filled with grace as it works in another’s life and they receive grace from God, via my hand. God is at work in giving the gift to me, God is at work in and through me as I give the gift, and then God continues to work in the gift even after it leaves my hand. Pretty cool.
